Autumn Term 2018

Welcome to year 3
We hope you have had an enjoyable summer. We have all settled back in to school and have begun our key stage 2 journey.
In English, we have been looking at Egyptian adventure stories. To improve our sentences we have used powerful adjectives, verbs and adverbs. In Mathematics, we have been exploring number and place value using base ten equipment. In science we are starting to investigate animals including humans. Our first theme this year will be the Ancient Egyptians and we are all looking forward to our visit to the Oriental museum.
For more information about what we are doing please look at our curriculum map and check the school twitter feed.
Mrs Williamson and Miss Watson.
We have looked at the artist Gustav Klimt, and started to create our own Egyptian God pictures in his style using gold paint, pastels and shiney paper.
We have really enjoyed the start of our year 3 computing curriculum. Lego WEDO is a lot of fun, and we learn how to programme and create our own mechanisms.
Words to learn:
Algorithm (a set of precise instructions)
Mechanism (moving parts inside a machine)
Debug (fixing problems with our instructions)
We have had an exciting second half term. We went on a visit to the oriental museum where we saw a real mummy. We also have learnt how to give CPR and how to use a defibrillator. In English we have been exploring fairy tales while in Math we have been developing our addition and subtraction skills.
