Our Science topic this term is 'Everyday Materials'. We will be exploring the names and properties of a variety of different materials, sorting them and carrying out experiments to find waterproof and absorbent materials!
In English we are looking at Traditional Tales. We will be looking at features of Traditional Tales and focusing on using capital letters and full stops in our writing. In Maths we are starting to look at tens and ones in numbers up to 50.
World Book Day
Year 1 have had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day. We have had some fantastic costumes.
Parents were invited in to enjoy the storybook The Stick Man. Children came up with their own ideas on what they would use a stick for if they were to find one. Children and parents then went on a stick hunt outside to find their very own sticks before heading back into the classroom to decorate them. Take a look at some of the Stick Men that we have created; We think that they are fantastic!
In the afternoon Year 1 were joined by Year 5/6GR. We shared our favourite World Book Day stories together.
 Half Term Homework
We are very impressed with all of the fantastic puppets that Year 1 have created as part of their half term homework. Well done!
'That History Bloke'
We had a fantastic day learning all about Victorian household objects and toys. We looked at what children wore in Victorian times, the jobs they had to do and the toys they played with. We even got to play with some Victorian toys ourselves!
We also spent some of our day making our very own toy rockets!
